An Extraordinary Internship for an Ordinary Intern
We’ve asked our intern, Krissy, to share some behind-the-scenes insights from her internship. Maybe it’s her love for sweets, or maybe she’s just that genuinely kind—but her words are as sweet as can be. Read below and see for yourself.
For the past 2 months, I’ve been an Account Assistant at &play. My name is Krisi, and this is the most extraordinary internship a student could ever experience.
As soon as I entered the conference room, I was greeted by three smiling faces, who, for some reason, agreed to take on a student with no talent whatsoever, but with an immense desire to learn everything the experienced team at &play could offer. My story of how the internship is going may not be too different from that of other interns in Bulgaria, but at &play, there are things that make my experience truly unique—it’s the team and the knowledge they share.
One of the first things Ivan and Mitko told me was that they knew I would make mistakes, and that it was normal. When people with so much experience reassure you that making mistakes is part of the process, it takes away the pressure every newcomer feels and gives you the freedom to absorb everything without unnecessary fears.
The team at &play is exactly what anyone needs to want to come to work every day. Each one of them is there to smile, to help you, to share an interesting story, to gift you a LEGO puppy, to buy sweets from the nearby shop, to play foosball with you, and to ease the stress of the day, because in this job, there is definitely a lot of pressure.
Julie, my mentor, is one of those people who will pay attention to every question, concern, or wish you may have. She will ask how you’re doing and notice when you’re not feeling well. She’ll take as much time as necessary to guide you and show you how a task should be done.
During the internship, I had the chance to attend photo shoots and client meetings, observing both the organizational process and the ease with which the &play team handles different unforeseen situations.
The internship at &play is something I didn’t know I wanted so much, and I’m happy it’s my reality. It turns out that even when you don’t have an ounce of talent or experience in a certain field, all you need is a handful of people who believe you can succeed.
